My Eyes Are Burning

This boy band video is probably one of the most disturbing excuses for entertainment ever created. And yet it’s better than 75 percent of the programming I’ve seen on BET, which, apparently, stands for Booties Every Time.
Now, don’t get me wrong. I like booties. Who doesn’t? But when I watch a channel called Black Entertainment Television, I expect to see entertainment targeted to black people. Instead, Bob Johnson’s company seems to specialize in the broadcast of hair removal informercials and teenage videos touting the benefits of bling bling. And, frankly, I’ve been more entertained by the twisted, inane wall poetry in a filthy gas station lavatory. Ya heard?
