Um, I guess if practicing democracy is an attempt to displace democracy then you might have a point there, but considering the fact that Recall was built into our system of government as a safety incase an elected official fails to do their job but does not commit any actions that warrant an impeachment. So the guy's not doing his job, then get rid of him. Only, there is no recall for the president, because he is elected by the whole nation, but that doesn't mean everyone is going to like him. I just love all of these armchair politicians who can bitch about what everyone does, but have never tried to hold an office themselves.

With all the country has been through the only thing Americans worry about is their pocket book. Less than two years ago our contry was attacked, and everyone was supporting President Bush reguardless of political party. (Maybe because no one wanted the job, they might actually be required to lead a nation through a very dark time in history) Now, that time is over and the economy took a lot of hard hits. Because of a President? No, because economies go up and down and when stuff like your country being attacked happens people do other things than go out and buy the latest video game. Al Gore wouldn't be doing any better if he had won the election. I actually live in California (Where gas is $2.25 per gallon) and I support anyone even another democrate over Gray Davis. This guy isn't responsible for California's debt but he has done absolutly nothing to fix it. Jumping to the completly different matter that you compared Gray Davis recall to, at least President Bush is trying something. And any money not in the governments hands is a good thing. The economy will rebound and we can all go back to our selfish little lives and worry about our bank accounts. If California was an independant country it would have the 6th largest economy in the world, one guy didn't break it and one guy or girl isn't going to fix it, but any one in the world can do better than Gray Davis.

Republicans aren't recalling the election of Gray Davis—the people of California (not exactly a Republican stronghold) are with their signatures. What's with posting the Democratic Party talking points? If the US Constitution provided for a national recall you could start the process with Bush if you felt it was appropriate.

Also, d, there is nothing wrong with being concerned about one's bank account. Contrary to your statements, Americans are worried about a lot of things-safety, education for our kids, the environment and whether or not we'll have a job tomorrow to feed our families. I have kids. I need a job (or some source of income) to help me provide for them. More income opportunities are produced in good economic times than bad. Why are you accusing me of being selfish for being concerned about this?

Americans are worried about their SAFETY?! Um, BULLSHIT. Americans only care that someone else cares about their safety. Why the fuck else do we see people talking on their cellphones while driving in rush hour traffic? Why do people willingly give up their fingernail clippers at airports, yet don't question why the security guards aren't checking watches or cellphones, those are more dangerous, because all you need is a little C4 and you can do alot more damage than with a dinky little fingernail clipper. Pack a cellphone with c4 and you'll take the whole plane down. you already have the detonater and power source, just need some explosive, which is very easy to get a hold of.

And the whole thing about Americans caring about an education for our kids - thats an even bigger load of bullshit. Jesus man, be different than the average American and use your brain. If people actually cared about getting their kids an education, schools wouldn't be having all the budget cuts and salary freezes. My mother is a teacher, and her salary was frozen (meaning no raises to cover raises in the cost of living, or any type of raise, ie if a teacher gets his/her masters degree they don't get the guarranteed raise they should) because of budget cuts. Don't give me this bullshit that people actually care, because they don't. Open your eyes, the world isn't some beautiful happy place that we all want it to be.
