I am no expert on this topic however it seems that creationists miss a good opportunity to score lots of points by persistently asking the evolutionists, "Where did all this stuff orginally come from?" By dogmatically sticking to biblical references they lose points because most intelligent people understand that the bible is only a collection of stories, inspired by God or not. Evolutionists lose points by dogmatically sticking to using the 'scientific method' then ignoring it.

For myself there are lots of 'holes' in evolutionary development of the solar system and of life on earth that science cannot explain and until they can I am satisfied to fill those in with some well thought-out mysticism.

The IDers are wrong. The universe was created by the Flying Spagetti Monster. He touched things with his noodly appendage and Voila! The universe was created.

I don't have a problem with ID being taught in a religion class. But don't insult my intelligence with saying it is science.

no, we are not going to add an hour each day, or at least, should not, because there's a little thing we like to call seperation of church and state, and reguardless of what a few fundies in Kansas think, there is a very good reason for it.

I dont mind them saying it is a theory. what i do mind is the crazy fucking theory they want you to believe "things fall not because they are acted upon by some gravitational force, but because a higher intelligence, “GOD” if you will, is pushing them down,” Gabriel Burdett

If god is pushing us down the he be here, since there is little gravity in space god is not there. and on jupiter there is a bigger amount of pull so god must love jupter and god must love the sun more then us cos they have more pull and god is doing the pulling

What about other religion's 'scientific' ideas about the origins of the universe? We're going to have to add another hour to each day of school to ensure that this theory of creationism gets adequate coverage in schools. Of course, medical schools are going to have to start teaching the theory of miraclelity. And that's just the beginning.

Yes, intelligent design is Creationism under a thin veil of disguise. Creationism was outlawed by the supreme court. Had to find another name, other argument, other proponents and now some faux-scientific support.

Like you said, theories are just that, made up rules that fit the observation.

For a long time we thought the earth was flat. Then, well, we thought the earth was the center of the known universe. For a long time, these were the explanation that made sense.

Newton had a good approximation with gravity. Except it's wrong, it does not work in all cases. Einstein had a better idea, relativity works better in more cases. But it is not perfect. It does not work in all cases. There's probably a better theory. Maybe an ultimate theory, one that explains everything.

It's easy to draw a parallel with evolution. We have a plausible model. Some holes. Work out the holes. You won't find anything if you just stop looking.

Of course, the universe (the earth?) was created in 7 days, and there was light and all that. We don't need no stinking science.

Minus the fact that intelligent design is fucking stupid, thats not what the whole issue is about. Its about the fact that Christian fundies are trying to downplay science and the scientific method as guess work, when that is in fact what intelligent design is. Beside, the fucking vatican said that intelligent design was stupid and had no basis and that evolution fits into the bible fine.
